The Forum Rules « Thread Started on Apr 25, 2006, 8:12pm »
~Welcome~
First of all, I'd like to thank you for joining this site. And I wish we can all have fun here, however in order to accomplish exactly this, there must be some guidelines and rules that have to be set down. I know, I know, you don't want to read them and I also don't wish to write them but they have been broken before so sadly, I must ask for you to at least scan through this. I have broken it down into sections for you, please at least read the sections that apply to you. Or at the very least, please read the 10 Quick Rules, below, that apply to all. Thank you.
If your question isn't answered in this then please post in the question section.
~10 Quick Rules~
1) Please do not God-Mode- this is controlling others or acting TOO powerful.
2) All posts must be written in 3rd person view (e.g He walked, She danced, Michelle ate). And please use correct grammer! You don't need to rush posts.
3) All posts must be TWO or more paragraphs, each containing three or more sentences. NO ONE-LINED POSTS! To ensure this, I have set up a small character count. Please read "Posting and PMing".
4) Respect others and their beliefs.
5) No nudity. You can have make out sessions but no hot and heavy stuff. PLEASE a violation of this rule is punishable by excommunication from the board.
6) Anyone who violates the promise will be banned from the community and any further attempts to get in will only get you banned again. The p*assword for the creating a character is: dumbats [The * is placed so that no one can quickly search for it, without atleast scanning through it].
7) When talking out of character please put your words in quotes or OOC: otherwise we will be confused.
8) In agreeing to these rules, you must say when you write your sample post that you agree. You also agree that you will post at least ONCE every week or your account will be deleted (if you are going away or have a valid reason then please PM me.)
9) Please, no chatspeak. Words like "Lol" and "Cya" are acceptable but no "Ya, I fink dats gr8!!". Thank you. Proper sentences will make others understand you! This is included in the OOC. And Please post in the right places!
10) One last thing, have fun. I know the rules must look horrible but they are just there for everyone's enjoyment. So most importantly, have fun! If you have any questions, just throw them my way and I'll try to answer them to the best of my ability.
Finally, I reserve the right to add, delete or edit the rules. Thank you for reading them!

If you understand them 10 rules fully then this post isn't for you as this is just a quick explanation of that in greater detail. Here, I'll just explain the 10 rules in further detail, so that anyone who is slightly confused can be freed from their confusion.
~10 Greatly Explained Rules~
1) Do not God mode!
Do not god mode. This means that you may not do anything that you have not been taught by you professors or is not expected for you to know by now. If you cast a spell or curse, you MAY NOT call the outcome of it. The other character will decide how it effects them. But you may mention what it should do, incase the other player doesn''t know. Also, if a spell is cast at you, you may not avoid it unreasonably. You may not say you heard something from someone if you were not in the thread at the time. No special powers such as being a parselmouth, Seeing, etc. unless approved. You must post it into your application and I'll decided whether or not to accept it. You cannot control others, nor act too powerful.
2) All posts must be written in 3rd person view. And please use correct grammar! You don't need to rush posts.
3rd View- this basically means that all roleplaying should be with "he/she/it" or the character's name. For example, this is a short Rp sample.
Quote:
Mayari's eyes scanned the crowded corridor, in search for him. She frowned as she placed her hand onto her eyebrow and squinted at someone who looked a lot like him. Sighing, she turned to girl behind her, "Yes, that's him." she muttered, pushing herself past the crowd, in attempt to reach him.
That was a short sample but you can clearly see that I haven't said it in first person view. I have not said, "I frowned as I placed my hand onto my eyebrow." If you look carefully, I said she and her. Also the tense, watch out for the tense the other people use but that doesn't matter too much as long as it isn't distinctly obvious that your post doesn't fit into that atmosphere.
3) All posts must be TWO or more paragraphs, each containing three or more sentences. NO ONE-LINED POSTS!
Basically what it says. I don't wish to see any posts that are only one line. If it is an OOC post then it can be shorter then 2 paragraphs but please add a little bit of detail to it. Some people just most a 1 word or 1 line post and it just annoys you. Especially if it's a 1 smiley post. E.g::
Quote:
;D
And that's it >_< It gets annoying. Therefore all posts are to be longer. 2 paragraphs with at least 3 sentences each, that's only 6 sentences that you have to type.
Also add emotion, surroundings, what the character does or is doing, how they react, speech etc. There is a lot to write about so I don't need to see tiny posts.
I have added a coding to this system, which is explained it "Posting And PMing". Read this for more information. [Suggested to read for everyone].
4) Respect others and their beliefs.
This is obvious. Please be respectful and civil to everyone. Any racist/sexist/religionist etc comments, will lead into warning and if it continues then banning from the site. Everyone's just trying to have fun so don't be mean. However, you may Roleplay as a mean character- I just thought I'd mention that in case someone thinks that they aren't allowed to be a slytherin =P lol.
5) No nudity.
This is a family site and there should be no nudity or sexual posts. Making out threads, however, are acceptable. But no heavy stuff. It is obvious why so please don't do this. Violation of this rule will lead into a ban without warning.
6) Anyone who violates these rules will be banned from the community and any further attempts to get in will only get you banned again.
Just thought I'd warn you that if anyone breaks these rules then I will suspend, ban, and delete members. Any further attempts to get in will only get you banned.
7) When talking out of character please put your words in quotes or OOC: otherwise we will be confused.
This is just so that it is less confusing. When you are talking OOC (Out of character) you should make it clear. You can either quote that bit using [quote*][/quote*] (Taking out the *'s) or you can put it in double brackets, (( )) or you could say OOC:
For example:
Quote:
He let out a laughter at his friend's words, as his eyes glanced across the classroom and landed on the girl wearing Ravenclaw robes, twiddling her hair and biting the end of her pencil. His cheeks suddenly reddened when she turned around and caught his eye.
OOC: Haha, yes, he will fall in love with her =P
BIC: He dropped his pencil as he tried to look away.
"BIC" means Back in Character. And is used if the OOC is in the middle of the post, however they should be used at the end or the beginning.
8) In agreeing to these rules, you must say when you write your sample post that you agree. You also agree that you will post at least ONCE every week or your account will be deleted (if you are going away or have a valid reason then please PM me.)
You must post at least 1 every week. There are too many unactive people so I've decided to delete those that are absent for 10 days or so, if they haven't posted a reason or told me one of one in advance. I don't mind if you are going unactive for whatever reason, as long as you tell me. I don't want to delete someone who is active but wasn't for a reason that they forgot to tell me about.
9) Please, no chatspeak. Words like "Lol" and "Cya" are acceptable but no "Ya, I fink dats gr8!!". Thank you. Proper sentences will make others understand you! This is included in the OOC. And Please post in the right places!
It just makes it easier to understand if you type using proper words and sentences. Also try to spell check your post before you post it, by clicking the spell check button. Obviously, I don't mind the odd mistake- as even I make them- but I don't want chatspeak nor a post with A LOT of mistakes. For example:
Quote:
She siged as she sw hsi face, "Wat do u want not?£ seg asked him.
THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. That obviously doesn't and properly won't, make much sense to anyone. The odd word they can figure out but that's just bad. That was SUPPOSED to be:
Quote:
She sighed as she saw his face, "What do you want now?" she asked him.
See the difference? Mistakes are easy but it's just as easy to correct them.
10) One last thing, have fun. I know the rules must look horrible but they are just there for everyone's enjoyment. So most importantly, have fun! If you have any questions, just throw them my way and I'll try to answer them to the best of my ability.
I know that this is such a corny rule but it's true! I want you to have fun, though it may not seem like it after that MASSIVE post you had to read through =P. But I do! They are only here so we can all have fun!
Thank you for reading this post =P I know it must have taken a while. Lol.
