A soft noise of chalk filled the quiet classroom as Evan wrote across the board slowly. It was his first lesson, and he was a bit nervous since teaching was not something he'd ever thought about. So far in his mission, Evan had only thought about sucking up to the higher authority figures. Now he had to actually teach which was something that had completely slipped his mind. Across the board he wrote:
Welcome to your first DADA class. I'm Professor Evan Brennan (though you may call me Evan) and I'll be cleaning those empty cobwebs out of your mind.
Below that he wrote:
Each day in class we'll have a journal topic in which you'll need to turn in to me by the first 10 minutes. It doesn't need to be long; a sentence or two will be fine.
Today's Journal Topic: How much do you already know about DADA?
Evan stepped back from the board looking pleased. He took a seat at his desk and waited for his students to arrive.

Asher stepped into the classroom to see that it was completely empty except for him and the Professor. He didn't really like that, so he quickly went to his desk around the middle of the room. Asher noticed the message on the board and pulled out a sheet of parchment and quill from his bag and started to write. Asher Seagle DADA Lesson One How much do you already know about DADA? I don't know a darn thing. You use spells, and make magical spark thingies that generally hurt other people. Unless you're stupid and then the magic will backfire on you. Which hurts. He stood up as he finished and handed his journal topic to the stack on the Professor's desk. Then he went back to his seat.

Jessica walked into the classroom and sat down in a random desk in the middle. She read the message on the board quickly and pulled out a sheet of parchment. She took out her ink and quill and slowly wrote her name and a couple of sentences:
Jessica Adams DADA
I don't know very much and just began. I know that defending of Dark magic is important and that we will learn to defend ourselves from spells, and creatures.
She read it over and shrugged before walking up to the front and putting it on top of Asher's.

Sami walked in sat down. She looked at the board and scoffed. She pulled out paper and jotted down
Samantha Daven DADA
What I already know about DADA is all the stuff they taught me in first year. Which I've probably forgotten by now, but I don't care. I know a bit about Unforgivables and basic creatures. But that's it...Happy?
Sami didn't care if it was a bit rude.

lana walked into the classroom, excited about taking her first DADA class. She looked around the classroom and saw that she didn't really have much choice of who to sit next to. She would sit with Sami, but she kind of thought she was a bit weird. She rolled her eyes and just sat in the front. She thought that would probably be the best spot if she wanted to learn everything she can.
She read the board's instruction then took out a piece of parchment and her quill to do the first assignment.
Lana Lee DADA Journal Entry #1
I don't really know much about Defense Against the Dark Arts. However, I have heard stories from my grandparents about Dark Arts and how powerful they can be if used properly. I also know a bit about the Unforgivable curses and I've encounter a few boggarts before.
Lana got up from her seat and placed her journal entry on top of the pile that was forming on the professor's desk. She gave a faint smile to the professor before taking her seat.

Summer entered and scanned the room, she noticed that she was pretty late so she quickly slipped in and sat beside Lana, "Hey." she whispered as she dropped her bag onto the floor and retreived her equipment. She quickly read the board, nodded to herself and brought out her quill.
[Cynthia] Summer Veneficus DADA Lesson One
How much do you already know about DADA? I haven't had much practise with spells, aside from the basic ones, but I know quite a bit about the Darker side of them. I know a bit about Unforgivable Curses, and basic evading techniques but not much more.
She quickly wrote in her italic handwriting, avoiding to write that she had seen Unforgivable Curses being performed on several occasions and that grew up around it. She handed it to the teacher, who she only noticed as she was too busy trying to catch up. He didn't look like he was born to teach but she had a good feeling that there was a reason that he was teaching. She smiled at him, before returning to her seat.

Artemis walked in and waved to the teacher before sitting down and glancing at the board. She pulled out a sheet of parchment and a quill and scribbled down:
Artemis Moon DADA
i"m I know all that my mom told me. Not very much. I know about dementors and boggarts and unforgivable curses. Thats about it.
Artemis got up and set her paper on top of the pile.

Sami sketched at the bottom of her note a small picture of a Vampire. She rolled her eyes waiting for something to friggen happen. She looked around the room. She had no friends so she couldn't really pass notes. So she just sat there glaring at the clock.

Once most of his students seemed to show up and do their journal topics, Evan started to go through them and read. An interested expression appeared on his face as he read Lana and Summer's responses. They both seemed to be hinting at a want for darker spells taught to them and this was what Evan wanted to see in his students. He smirked a bit at what Sami had written, since it reminded him of himself back at Hogwarts.
"Okay, class," started Evan as he tossed the journal topics back onto his desk. "Seems like most of you guys don't know a thing about what you're doing... even some of our older students. Of course, that's to be expected seeing as you're still quite miniature, naive, and innocent. I'm going to change that though, since we'll be delving into the deeper magic such as the Unforgivable Curses since there seems to be a particular interest in that subject. Any comments so far? Mostly we'll be talking about future lessons today, so this lesson right now we'll be a bit informal compared to other classes," explained Evan as he looked around the room for any raised hands.

Sami raised an eyebrow, "Innocent?"
She doubted any one of the children in this room were innocent. Naive and Miniture definately. But everyone nowadays was far from innocent. If we were so innocent, we wouldn't ask about so many big bad curses.

Artemis leaned forward in her chair, she had been looking forward to this class and it sounded as if it was gonna be interesting. She grinned at the girl's comment and waited to see what the teacher's response would be.
Jessica sat in her desk and wondered about the teacher's words. Deeper magic? Since when do we learn deeper magic in the first year...

A smirk was formed on Summer's face as she leaned back in confidence of the lessons that were going to take place. She knew that they would be far more interesting then she had expected them to be, as she thought the teacher wanted to teach the same things that she wanted to learn. She glanced back at the other slytherin's comment, and caught the smirk that sided on Artemis's face, giving her on smirk in return.

Lana smiled broadly at the discussion of lessons to come. This is exactly the reason why she came to Hogwarts. This is exactly the reason why her parents sent her here and not some other foreign school. Lana sat a bit straighter and taking down all of this on her parchment. This was going to be a good school year.

Asher listened to the Professor's words curiously and when he was finished he sat there in thought. He wasn't really sure what to think, since it wasn't he that had wanted to learn those things. Of course, he didn't really mind what they'd learn. He noticed very interested faces on Lana, Summer, and Artemis and was sure it was them that had wanted to learn about the Unforgivable Curses.

Innocent?
"Well maybe not everyone is innocent in here," replied Evan, his eyes flickering over two certain Slytherin students when he said this. He took out a piece of chalk and stood up. "Now we'll be making our lesson plan. I want you guys active and telling me what you want, so you're going to help me with it."
He walked over to the blackboard and paused. "The first lesson will have to be something 'Ministry-Approved' and so I suppose we'll do boggarts," he announced. "But after that, I'm up to teach anything. However, we may have some trouble if some of the higher authority figures finds out I'm teaching you Unforgivable Curses, so I must know that you won't rat out anything we do in here."
