"I dunno. 'Spose I just got a rotten bit of bad luck that day," said Damien with a shrug. He'd never really figured it out. He'd always supposed that the hat had made a mistake, but it wasn't something he could ever really find out. "Certainly seems like it at least."

"Bad luck is a bit of an overstatement when you got sorted into Gryffindor," Lana said. "I would ask you to come and hang out with us in Slytherin, but I don't think that would be a good idea. You know, a Slytherin and a Gryffindor getting along? It's almost unheard of."

Damien shrugged since he'd expected something like this. "That doesn't come as a shock," he commented simply. That's why he hated his house. It created too many stereotypes to what he was like. And even if those stereotypes were broken, other people still thought of them when they saw you.

Jasper watched the conversation with interest. Just because he was a mute, didn't mean he couldn't... communicate what had happened, if you wanted to say that. He could write down what he'd seen, though none of it was too interesting to him. A girl, apparently called Lana, and another guy, Damien, getting all friendly. A Slytherin and a Gryffindor. He continued to watch, interested.

An idea popped into Lana's head. "Hey, you probably see Kris all the time in the common room, don't you," Lana asked. "I mean, you guys are roommates, right? Because they put all the years together and everything. I have a proposal." If she was going to be friends with Gryffindor, she might as well use him for something productive.

Damien frowned. He absolutely hated Kris and would love to do something harmful to him, but he also didn't want to be a little pawn to Lana that could be sent to do her bidding. "And what is that?" he asked raising his eyebrows. He was wary of what she had to say since he didn't trust her one bit.

Lana shrugged her shoulders, not wanting him to think that she had alot of time to think it through. "Well, maybe you could, I don't know, place some potion that would make him break out in hives," Lana said. "I'm kind of talented in potion. Can whip one up for you. If your interested. Thought maybe you could, put a few drops in his pants, so when he puts it on..."

Damien smirked at the thought of Kris's reaction. He glanced over at Lana, wondering if he should take the offer. Undoubtly she was using him, and he knew it. However he had nothing better to do and decided making a fool of Kris would be much more fun than anything else he could do. "Just tell me when," replied Damien, the smirk more evident now as he said this.

"Excellent," Lana said, smiling. "Well, I'm going have to get the potion done. I'll let you know when I have it done. I'll contact you, don't contact me." She got up and looked around and was glad the library was still empty, except for the mute kid. But, Lana didn't feel that he was much of a threat. "Alright, see you around," Lana said waving at Damien before heading out of the library.

Damien rolled his eyes at the 'don't contact me' part which pretty much confirmed his suspicions that she was using him. He nodded his head, not bothering to wave and started to read again. Soon he was bored though and looked over to the boy who had been watching them. He decided that for once, he'd start the conversation and so he walked over to the boy. "Hello, I'm Damien," he stated as he took a seat. Damien never did first greetings, but he decided he should change that for once.

Jasper looked at him, blinking. He'd seen the whole thing, but it didn't really matter. Unless someone asked him about it, he wouldn't bother mentioning it. And by mentioning it, I mean he'd have to write it down. So, Jasper looked at the boy, and nodded.

"Generally you'd say your name back," said Damien slowly, saying his words slowly in case the kid was just really stupid. He doubted it though, since the boy seemed to nod and comprehend what he was saying. I certainly talk more than this guy, Damien thought to himself.

Jasper grinned. He paused for a second, and reached into his pocket, pulling out a small piece of parchment he'd been saving for no reason at all. He looked at it. No reason. He grabbed a quill off the table, and wrote, rather small, "I'm mute. My name's Jasper."

Damien looked at the boy curiously as he wrote something on a piece of paper and then read it. Oh. "Well that would certainly explain a lot," commented Damien as that seemed to explain Jasper's lack of conversation with anybody so far. Of course, Damien wasn't mute and yet he still had no friends so he couldn't really say anything on that issue.

Jasper nodded. Of course it explained a lot. And, now leaving his RPer with nothing else to type, he continued to sit there, bored.
