Okay, let the debating start. Do you think Snape is good or evil? And, you will need to present evidence.
I personally, think Snape is good. Maybe because I like to think that everyone has a good part in them somewhere. But, it seem as through the sixth book that Dumbledore knew his fate and therefore allowed Snape to do what he had to do. Snape could have kidnapped Harry or cause serious harm to him when he was fleeing the castle with the DE but he didn't. He pushed Harry back and told him to clear his mind if he wanted to defeat Voldermort. He was giving Harry advice and stuff. Now, would you really do that if Voldermort is your boss?

I think Snape is evil. But thats just cuz I like him evil. Hes cool evil. He wouldn't be as cool good. You know? I don't really know though. He could be good because why else would Dumbledore trust him? I mean I always thought Dumbledore was really smart and stuff. You know?

Yeah, i know what you mean. Snape is one of the best characters in the series. I kind of like him alot better than I like Hagrid. *hides behind a big big rock* I wished JKR would tell us more about Snape. Maybe after the whole series and she keeps up with her site, she'll give us more of a backstory to the older characters. That would be awesome.

Haha I wouldn't hide, Lana. Hagrid actually kinda annoys me in the 5th book with the whole Grawp thing... Anyway, I'm going to stay on topic for once.
I think Snape is evil, but that's probably because I don't like him. I like his character, I think he's excellently well-written [not a lot of RPers can do justice], complex, interesting... all that jazz. But he's also a slimy git. That being said, there's too much doubt for me to fully believe that Snape is evil. Darn these mock trials and their, "Innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt..." So, I'd like for Snape to be evil, but can't bring myself to believe he is.

haha. true. I was in Mock Trial for four years, not counting the one year I did it when I was in middle school. Those habits die hard. Snape is an awesome character. Good or evil, I would still like him. But, like I said, I'm a optimistic person. I like to think Snape was good. But, I want to know what Snape really did to prove Dumbledore that he actually changed side. It couldn't possibly be because he was sorry about James and Lily.

Four years? Whoa, that's heaps, lol. For us, we get selected in year 10, then we get to do it again in year 11, but we're not allowed to do it after that. Anyway, back on topic for me...
Snape is a really complex character, I wish I could say I can guess his next moves but I really can't. But yeah, I agree that, good or evil, Snape will remain awesome. Unless he ends up being good and it's like some huge sopfest... Anyway, I remember reading in someone's signature in CoS, that it was because of what he did about the whole Lily/James thing, not because he felt sorry. It mentioned a page number, but I've been away from CoS for so long now that I can't even remember it. *cries*

*too lazy to read the last few messages*
Yeah I agree with Lana, about liking him whether or not he was good. *stopped reading there*. Mainly cause he's one of them characters that the story would be boring without. He's really... Mm I don't know how to explain it... But he's the calm, controlled, sadistic type who is well described. I mean, no offence, but he'd make a better "bad guy" then Voldemort. And yeah, agreeing with Mia, hardly any RPers can do him justice. That's why I don't try and RP him cause I know that I'll fail at it and that wouldn't be any good... It would be interesting to know a bit more about him, but to be honest, we do already know quite a good bit (Something which I think is mega cool). Anyway, about him being good or evil...
Well I'd like to think of him as evil but somehow, he seems to be good. I do have to agree that I personally think he is good. Like in the first book, Harry and such all thought he was the evil one but he saved their lives many times. Clearly this isn't the reason that I think he is good as he could of just been doing that to stay in Dumbledore's good books or cause (mentioned in HBP) he thought Quirrel was trying to get the stone for himself. But Severus Snape seems to have a good thing about him. I wouldn't believe that Dumbledore could die so easily, and I think that he knew his death was coming upon him. And like he says at his dying moments, he always suspected Draco but the question was, When would Draco attack. Draco, prior to this, also said that Severus wasn't working for him and all that stuff. And I think that if Dumbledore was able to know that Draco was 'Evil' then he'd know about Severus too. And in order to protect Snape and Draco, at the same thing, he died willingly.
Many say that the "Severus... Severus please..." (or however it was written) was a plead for Severus to kill him, so that it would be over for him and they'd be saved. It could be, Severus, don't do this. and yet it could also be, Severus, you must do it. so yeah...
And that's my on topic post of the day (maybe)...

Yeah, it was kind of ambigous the way Dumbledore said it. And, the whole thing about Draco doing it by himself could made me think that maybe Snape is good. Because if Snape did know Draco's plan, maybe it would have made it harder for Draco to actually have the plans go through. And, Draco has been learning occulmency from his aunt, so Snape couldn't really read his mind, either. After reading the book the first time, I kind of thought that maybe Narcissa planned it so that Snape did kill Dumbledore to test his loyalty. i don't know, i like making conspiracies where they dont' exist.
